Ambien maker: Racism not a known side effect of our drugs

When the Twitter user pointed to her previous tweets-and the headlines they inspired-she wrote, "i blamed myself. stop lying".

But early Wednesday she turned to a surprising target - her "Roseanne" team. She also apologized to those who lost their jobs because of her, but then later reacted to their posts about her.

Barr said that she would leave Twitter as a result of the backlash she faced.

Though she later claimed it was "a joke", she issued a fuller apology after more intense criticism was directed toward her and ABC. "My joke was in bad taste". As I called my manager to quit working on Roseanne, I found out the show got cancelled.

The above tweet now appears to have been deleted, as is the case with several others including those indicating she may have been under the influence of the sleeping pill Ambien when she posted her offensive tweets. "You throw me under the bus. nice!"

And Barr pointed a finger at Wanda Sykes, the show's consulting producer, for ultimately causing the show's demise. Other stars of Roseanne have also condemned Barr's comments.

Jarrett also said Disney CEO Bob Iger called her personally to apologize and gave her advanced notice that Barr's eponymous show was being cancelled before it was announced publicly.

Well, apparently ABC didn't find her joke amusing and swiftly pulled the plug on the hit series.

The guest also said that Barr's remark was in fact "disgusting" but refused to acknowledge that the tweet implied any racial context.

Late Tuesday, Barr tweeted a second apology to the writers and co-stars of the show and urging people not to feel sorry for her.

ICM dropped Barr within hours of the cancellation, saying in a statement that the agency was "greatly distressed by the disgraceful and unacceptable" tweet. Hulu said episodes of the new show would no longer be available on its streaming service.

Roseanne comedy returned to ABC in March, two decades after it ended its first run from 1988 to 1997, reuniting the original cast including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert. "Roseanne" averaged 23.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen, making it the most popular show of the year so far.
