There's no word yet on when the new locations may open, but it has previously been reported that Amazon wants to open six new Go locations this year. Remember the Amazon Go store in Seattle?

Today the word comes down that Amazon Go stores are set to arrive in Chicago and San Francisco, and the company is looking for store managers in both locations. That followed earlier reports from The San Francisco Chronicle and Curbed Chicago about building permits for Amazon Go locations.

The actual Amazon Go store is extremely tech-heavy, was expensive to build and can only sell a narrow range of specially-selected items - nowhere near the 50,000 or so items a typical supermarket stocks.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to the news outlet that the company was planning to open stores in each of the cities, but did not specify when they would welcome customers. (NASDAQ:AMZN) likes what it sees from its futuristic cashierless store concept.

The store uses a collection of cameras and sensors to constantly track customers and inventory as they move around. Not only that there are no cashiers, Amazon Go stores don't even have checkout counters, thereby eliminating the need for shoppers to wait in line. It featured what's known as "Just Walk Out" technology, which allows customers to take items off of the shelves and be charged for the items they leave the store with while bypassing any checkout procedures.

The 11 key-factors they looked at include restaurants participating in Prime Now, Amazon bookstores, free two-hour Whole Food delivery and Amazon Lockers.
